Dear Friends,

Positive relationships make up a critical part of an adolescent’s sense of self worth – a fact well documented this month in a research brief released by Child Trends.  This brief lists peer acceptance, close friendships and romantic relationships as three of the eight factors that make up an adolescent’s self-concept.

According to the report, “Positive overall self-concepts have been linked to various markers of positive peer relationships and overall happiness”.   The report adds that “Having an overall negative self-concept in adolescence has been associated with “depression, drug use, and eating disorders in girls”.

If you’d like to help your teens cultivate life skills that are central to building and maintaining positive relationships, we can help!  The Dibble Institute provides research based, best practice, developmentally appropriate materials, curricula and training.

Our curricula are easily adapted to classroom, church, community, agency and youth group settings and are appropriate for Family and Consumer Science, career prep and Language Arts teachers; youth agency workers; independent living coordinators; abstinence and teen pregnancy prevention workers; camp and after school program staff; Healthy Marriage, CBAE, and Head Start grantees; youth pastors; social workers; and parents.

Vow to add healthy relationship skill education to your teens’ agendas NOW!  Visit our catalog to select the best materials for your program.  For more information, visit our website or call us at 800-695-7975.

Best Regards!
